The fundamental operation for them may be divided into three distinctive stages: flow, compression and ejection. Flow is the tendency of the granulation to flow like a granulated material. Compression is the creation of tablets within the dye. Ejection refers to the collection the tablet out of the dye.
It applies a combined pressing action by two punches and a dye to form the tablet. In the first step of the simplified operation, the bottom punch is lowered in the dye, which creates a cavity to be fed by the granulated feedstock. The accurate depth of the lower punch can be precisely controlled to measure the amount of powder that fills that cavity. The excess is worn out from the top of the dye, and the lower punch is forced down and temporarily covered for preventing spillage. Now, the upper punch is forced down to bring it into contact with the powder and the cover is removed. High pressure compression rolls deliver the force of compression to fuse the granulated material together into the tablet. Then the lower punch is raised to drive out the tablet.
